Leviticus
The Day of Atonement
Before there was a Good Friday, there was a day of atonement, on which all the sins of God’s people from the prior year were atoned for. But it pointed forward to a greater day of atonement.
All Paid Up
In the final type of major sacrifice covered in Leviticus 1:1-6:7, we look at the guilt offering, which focuses especially on the debt that sin incurs and how it can be repaired.
Disinfected
As we come to the fourth of the major types of offerings for which Leviticus provides instructions, we come to the first that deals with particular sins, and through it we learn that the particular sins of particular people require a particular purification.
Dining with God
In the burnt offering of Leviticus chapter 1, the food offering is entirely the LORD’s. But as we get into chapters 2-3, we see that God not only demands our food; he invites us into the feast, and from it we learn how to enjoy communion with God.
Burned for our Sins
When a wrong is committed, atonement must be made, but how can atonement be made for the wrongs we have committed against the LORD? The first type of sacrifice covered in Leviticus answers that question.
