Isaiah
Turning from Idols
Now that Isaiah has called us to wait for the LORD and not to be afraid, he calls us to turn from our idols and trust instead in the living God, whose servant delivers us from our idols and empowers us to sing God’s praises.
Who is with you?
There is plenty of which to be afraid, yet God tells us in this passage to fear not, for better reasons than the world gives: He is with us.

When it Feels Like God is Doing Nothing
In exile, Israel complains to the LORD that their way is hidden from him. It feels like he’s doing nothing. Yet he promises those who wait for him in such times that he will give them they strength they need to endure with joy.
Comfort for Exiles
In Isaiah 40, the context is the people of Israel in exile, receiving God’s judgment for their sins. And yet, God speaks to them there a word of comfort: Your God is coming, and all will see his glory.
The Greatest Hope
Everyone thinks of Christmas as as season of hope, but on what do we set our hopes? This passage directs our hopes to the greatest possible king with the greatest possible kingdom.

For Whom We’re Waiting
We’re all waiting for something in advent, but for what are we waiting? We wait not so much for a what, but a who: The Root of Jesse, who will rule righteously and bring rest.
God the Father Almighty, Maker of Heaven and Earth
In the Apostles’ Creed, we begin with “I believe,” but what is it we believe? Or better yet, in whom do we believe? In this passage we answer that question with “our God,” and we behold Him for our comfort.
Go Tell it on the Mountain
In a world that is fractured and where it’s hard at times to feel the joy of Advent, Isaiah encourages us to be a people who anticipate, proclaim, and display good news.
